SEXUAL COMULSIVITY AND ADDICTION RECOVERY GROUP - THURSDAYS 7:00 - 8:30 P.M.
This group is for men who are in all stages of recovery from sexual addiction (regardless of specific type of behavior). The group is both psychoeducation and process oriented and is designed to be a place where men in active recovery can gain insight, knowledge, and support in a safe environment. The group will utilize the Facing the Shadow and Recovery Zone workbooks authored by renown sex addiction expert, Patrick Carnes, PhD. Fee: $200 (per month)
PARTNERS GROUP - WEDNESDAYS 7:00 - 8:30 P.M.
This group is for both women who have been betrayed through infidelity whether sexual addiction is present or not. The group is psychoeducational and process oriented. It is meant as a place where individuals can come together in an atmosphere of validation and support to better understand the intense feelings they are experiencing, to better understand the dynamics and reasons for the infidelity, and to develop a strategy or plan of where to go from here and what to do next. The group will utilize several different books to gain knowledge and insight about infidelity, sexual compulsivity, and betrayal within the context of the couple relationship. It is a place where each person can rediscover themselves as individuals as they begin to make difficult decisions about themselves and their relationship. Fee: $200 (per month).
COUPLES GROUP - FRIDAYS 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. (Offered only in Fall and Spring)
This group is for couples who have experienced infidelity in their relationship - regardless of whether an addiction is present or not. The group is process oriented but will utilize books such as Intimate Betrayal: Hope and Healing for Couples Recovering from Infidelity and Sexual Addiction (by Dr. Michael Howard) to facilitate discussion and enable participants to gain further insight and knowledge into couple dynamics and how infidelity has impacted their most important relationship. Couples will come together in an atmosphere of acceptance and support to gain valuable tools and encouragement regarding the journey of healing they are on. Fee: $200 (per month).
Group Leaders:
Recovery and Couple groups are led by Dr. Michael Howard, founding director of Healing Solutions Counseling Center, PLLC. Dr. Howard is certified by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) as a Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor. He was personally trained by renown sex addiction expert, Patrick Carnes, PhD. Dr. Howard teaches graduate courses in infidelity and sexual addiction, has authored numerous articles and a book on the topic, and speaks regularly throughout North America at professional training events and conferences on the topic of infidelity and sex addiction.
The Partner group is led by Ms. Stefanie Petyak, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and trauma specialist. Stefanie comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with women, trauma, and life stress / anxiety issues.
